Ravenwood Founder and Winemaker

OUR STORY

Ravenswood is one of California’s iconic Zinfandel producers.

Founded by Joel Peterson in 1976, the brand played a pivotal role in revitalizing the variety by crafting site-specific Zinfandels from Sonoma County.

In doing so, Ravenswood garnered critical acclaim and a cult-like following, with Peterson being hailed as The Godfather of Zinfandel. Today, Ravenswood is reestablishing itself as an icon of Zin with Peterson’s close collaboration. In a fitting return to form, the brand has crafted an emblematic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel and three distinct single vineyard-offerings—from Monte Rosso, Teldeschi and MacMurray Vineyards—that reveal the stunning range of California’s definitive varietal wine.
